A Day in the Life of a Student Mom

March 3, 2017 By Channing 2 Comments

This is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down.I’d like to take a minute just sit right there I’ll tell you how I LOST MY EVER LOVING MIND BY TAKING ON WAY TOO MUCH STUFF AT ONE TIME AND NOW WANT TO PULL MY HAIR OUT kind of Mom!

Well, that was theraputic. I appreciate all of you stepping into a little bit of my crazy while I vented for a second. We are all friends though and don’t pass judgement so we are ok…right?

But in reality right now I am a part-time teaching, moving to a new house, taxi cab minivan driving, blogging, student mom. I am tired and exhausted but  love every bit of it. Michelle has decided I am happiest when my life is insane. I think I have to agree!

My plan was to share with you all my life as a student. You know those days I get the kids off to school with smiling faces and then head off to classes myself to get my education on.

Well, let’s just say my week turned out to be a little crazier than expected…especially my Wednesday!

So without further ado I present, A Day in the Life of a Student Mom!

5am- My Morning Beigns

I try to start most of my days early. I love this time in our home. It is quiet, still dim and calm. It’s like a tiny miracle to start the day before all of the crazy starts. This morning I have started with my Bible study, Redeemed! It is amazing if you are looking to start one! This is also the moment in my day where I beg God for extra patience and loads of it!

6am- Lunches

I hate packing lunches. Lunches are the worst. I am not allowed to starve my children so here are their lunches.

7am- Sister Sendoff

This particular morning the big sisters headed off to school early. Eden (my oldest) is in every club her school could possibly offer and middle sister gets to tag along. But this sister, she hates when they leave. It’s sad so then we eat Cheerios and watch Barbie and all is well in her world again. Also, the hubs did drop off. That was awesome as is he!

8am- The Great Compromise

At 8am on this Wednesday morning the great compromise took place. Ellie insisted on wearing her rain boots, again, when it is not raining. I love these boots but we must try variety. She also wanted to wear shorts that are too small for her and a pajama top. We compromised, she wore the boots but I picked out the clothes. End scene.

9am- Let the Teaching Begin!

Little tid bit on my life, I am an education major (I know you were asking yourself when I was going to mention school) therefore I teach! I am still in school but a few days a week I teach Pre-K 4 and I love it. We do fun things like sing songs, play outside, become little geniuses and do manipulatives. It’s fun!

10am- Brought to you by the letter U

In preschool we also learn our letters. These letters include the letter U. We write our letters together. Sometimes you forget what other pictures the letter U can make. I leave you with this…#teacherfail.

12:30pm- Let the School Work Begin!

I have a few hours between rushing home from work and picking the girls up from school. This is the time of day I have to use wisely. Does it always happen? No. Does it need to happen? Yes. Papers don’t write themselves and since I have 2 papers due next week and a test on Sunday it was time to hit the books!

2:30pm- Contemplating…

At 2:30 I took a break from school work and thought to myself….

“self, what else can I can do that is productive?”

I then looked at this pile of laundry contemplated folding it and then kept on walking.

3pm- Packing

After walking around my house for a good 30 min avoiding chores I forced myself to pack. Oh right, we are moving. We are moving in 3 days. To a fixer upper. What are we doing with our lives? It’s like we were sitting around one day and said, “Hey guys, we are already losing our minds with things to do around here. Let’s move! It will be so fun.”

We are dumb.

4pm- Let the festivities begin!

These girls were at school early and stayed late. It was a long day and we all needed a quick break. Sonic drinks to the rescue! This is one fun crew I tell ya!

5pm- Homework and Life and Stuff

I lost this picture but it as fun. Just imagine a 5year old spinning on the floor as I ask her to spell her sigh words. It was riveting.

6pm- Fine dining!

In all of my packing haste I packed up all of our dishes. We are super classy this week dining on paper plates and plastic utensils. We took it up a notch one night and ate soup out of plastic cups. Doesn’t this make you feel good about yourself?

7pm- Practice makes perfect

Yes, practice starts at 7pm. Yes, that is crazy. But, she loves it and works her little booty off so here we are at 7pm at soccer practice. I also love watching her do something she loves so much!

8:30- We are still here…

9:30 A Meeting of the Minds

The kids are all finally in bed and our house is semi-quiet. The hubs and I finally have a few minutes together….to work on our reno budget. It’s super fun to budget (said no one ever). But, I would not want to do this with anyone but him.

Our lives are crazy and busy and hard sometimes but, our lives are a complete and wonderful blessing. My days seem so long but they are packed full of greatness.

I get to spend my days with the people I love most.

It does not get any better than this!
