4 Tips for a Calmer Back to School Morning Routine

August 26, 2019 By Channing Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Tyson Foods, Inc. The opinions and text are all mine. #HEBSimpleScrambles

These 4 tips for creating a calmer morning routine for school are easy to follow and will help start your day off right!

Do your school mornings usually look like mine? Your alarm doesn’t go off, you are running around like you’ve lost your head all while yelling at the kids to get their clothes on, brush their teeth, grab their shoes and “don’t forget your lunch again, I’m not bringing it to you!” Yes, this is what a typical morning in my house looks like. Hi, my name is Channing and I am not proud of the mornings in our house. With the new school year approaching, I have to get myself in some new habits. I have to create a better schedule for my kids, get more organized and start focusing on what I need to help make the days and weeks run more smoothly. We moms always put ourselves last on the list when it comes to making sure we have what we need. What I have slowly come to accept is that the more I put myself last, the more everyone suffers. What we have been doing isn’t working so it’s time for a change around here! If you need a more organized morning routine I hope my 4 Tips for a Calmer Back to School Morning Routine will help! Don’t worry, they are easy!

4 Tips for a Calmer Back to School Morning Routine

1. Wake Up Early I know this does not sound appealing but trust me, this is the key to a great start! Wake up EARLY! Set your alarm to get up before the kids. Give yourself some time in the morning to get yourself moving and allow your mind to organize all that is ahead of you for the day. If you are like me, I am slow to wake up. I am not a jump out of bed kind of gal. I need a minute before the chaos starts. I have found that when I allow myself these few minutes before the kids get up I am more ready to take on the day and all of the personalities that come running down the stairs. Just a few minutes alone and waking up early go a LONG way!

2. Don’t Skip Breakfast I am the worst at this! If I do not have something easy on hand to grab while doing my busy morning routine, it is not happening. But, I recently found these Jimmy Dean Simple Scrambles® Breakfast Cups at HEB and they are life-changing. You guys, not only are they a quick on the go breakfast but they are delicious too. They are so yummy my kids keep trying to steal them from me so I had to buy more! There is so much to do and just not enough time! With the help of Jimmy Dean Simple Scrambles Breakfast Cups, my mornings definitely flow just a little easier and I am making myself a priority and making sure I get a great breakfast to help me tackle the day!

You guys have to check these gems out! You can find them at HEB near the other Jimmy Dean Products. My favorite flavors are Jimmy Dean Simple Scrambles® Turkey Sausage and Jimmy Dean Simple Scrambles® Three Cheese. They are both delicious! They are made with simple, real ingredients and real eggs. It is a fast, quick breakfast that you can enjoy on the go. And right now, you can get $1.00 off 2 Jimmy Dean Simple Scrambles Breakfast Cups (offer live 8/19-9/15 or while supplies last).

3. Create a Schedule I know you have heard this before but creating a schedule can literally be the make or break in my day. I am not a naturally organized person but with 3 kids, me being in school and everyone having their own activities if I do not have a daily schedule already lined up my day is doomed. When I have a schedule I wake up less stressed about the day and I am way more productive. Because I know this about myself, I now encourage this of my kids. Every week during the school year my kids each have a daily responsibilities checklist to follow. I put everything on this list from getting dressed (including shoes) to eating breakfast. When they complete a task, they check it off. I put these in clear pockets and use a dry erase marker so we can change up lists as needed. When everyone in the house knows exactly what is on their list and plan for the day, the morning definitely runs more smoothly! *Click on the image and print! Let us know how much you enjoy using them!
4. Have your Coffee Set the Night Before! Yep, I added it to the list. Friends, make your coffee the night before and set a timer. If there is any tip I can give you that will change your life it’s this one. We all know that every mom needs that pick me up, get me going in the morning. Whether it is coffee, tea, a soda whatever it is be prepared. I like (or my husband) to have my coffee ready to go the night before and set it and forget it. When I smell that beautiful aroma down the hallway back to my room it makes taking on the day that much easier. I know, this is the simplest tip ever but it is one I can’t live without. So go do it, get your coffee ready for tomorrow. It is so worth it!

Moms make the world go round! They can’t do it without out us, folks. So, make yourself a priority. Be prepared, make a schedule and eat a great breakfast. You are worth it and so are your families. A better you means a better life for everyone else! I hope your kiddos have a great school year and do amazing things!

Instagram post 17850899390014309 Disney is challenging us to share our first pictures with characters! I had to join in the fun and it was the best trip down memory lane. Disney has been threaded throughout my entire life. I pulled a few of my most favorite memories over the years. From partying in the streets during the most epic dance party and meeting our most favorite princesses to me being a kid at Disney myself. Oh, I also had to add a picture of Cinderella’s Castle. She really is the most beautiful cast member of them all!
@waltdisneyworld we miss you more and more each day. You’ve brought us joy beyond words and we cannot wait for the day when we get to walk down Main Street USA again!
