In just 2 short days, the little kids and I will officially be on summer break. And in just 2 weeks, the oldest one will be joining us.
Can we just take a moment for the cliche’ where did the year go speech? Because seriously, where the heck did it go??
This year marks some extra big milestones in that the end of the school year also marks the end of Elementary School for my oldest, Madisyn. Next year she will be in Jr. High.
And Megan, well tomorrow will be her PreK graduation, and she will be off to Kindergarten next year.
I just had her, I swear….
Even if I haven’t made my peace with all the changes, summer is coming weather I am ready or not. And boy do I like to be ready. With a family of 6 and 4 kiddos to entertain, this mom has to be on her A game all summer long. Now let’s be honest, am I? No. But I do try my very best to keep the kids busy. Because if they are busy, they are happy. And then mama is happy. Which we all know if mama ain’t happy how badly that can go.
Now thanks to some of our generous family members we have some various season passes to local places that help keep us busy. We hit up the Houston Zoo and Moody Gardens quite often, as well as the library and local splash pads. And we plan plenty of play dates. The thing is that sometimes plans fall through. Or it’s raining. Or, mama just doesn’t feel like getting out of the house and wants to stay in her pajamas. #truestory
I have been building up my list of summer boredom busters and gathering supplies over the last few weeks so that come this summer (you know in 2 more days) I will be ready.
Lil’ Luna has some amazing summer activity ideas for kids. Some of my faves include…
These were big hits with my kiddos last summer, and I fully plan to recreate them this year as well.
I am also super eager to give these a go….my kids LOVE to be outdoors. Even if it will be 110 degrees.
What are some of your favorite summer activities to tackle the “I’m Bored” speeches that are guaranteed to start up probably within the first couple days? Any great crafts or activities we want to know about so we can pin them for later!

These all look fabulous! So fun. I think we’ll be living in the pool on the days it doesn’t rain. Come on over!
