3 Tips on Finding the Perfect Hospital for Women

January 7, 2019 By Channing Leave a Comment

“This post is sponsored by The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. As always, all opinions are my own.”

To understand the weight of why I feel choosing the right hospital for women is so important when expecting, I have to look back a good 13 years. In 2005, when my oldest was born, picking a good hospital was not on my radar. I was young and did not know all the complications that could occur when having a baby. I found myself delivering early and with extreme heart issues. I was diagnosed with post-partum cardiomyopathy and found myself in the cardiac ICU.

Flash forward to my pregnancy with my youngest: I was 32 weeks pregnant and all of a sudden something was not right. The whole family went on a walk and I quickly realized that I was contracting. I went home and laid down to rest, but as the night went on, things did not improve. I headed to the doctor and was immediately sent to The Woman’s Hospital of Texas to be admitted. Little did I know that our journey with this amazing hospital had just begun.

Within a few short hours I went from contractions stopping to my baby being in distress and being wheeled into the operating room for an emergency C-section. If you have ever found yourself in such a scary situation you know how crucial it is to be in a hospital with doctors and nurses you know you can trust. From the anesthesiologist watching over my surgery, the nurses reassuring my terrified husband that his wife and baby would be ok, to the doctor who notice that my baby’s heart rate was rapidly dropping and rushed to save her life.

Not only did all of these professionals care for me during delivery, they spent the next several months caring for my newborn and keeping her alive. She is truly a miracle!
I was so blessed to be at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas during this scary time of our lives. I was so thankful that I had educated myself between my first and last pregnancy and found the perfect hospital that could meet all of my and my baby’s health needs. This is why I am such a huge advocate in helping women to find the perfect hospital for them.

Here are my top 3 Tips on Finding the Perfect Hospital for Women:

Find a hospital with a comprehensive range of women’s services:

If my story can tell you anything, it is to expect the unexpected! You never know what can go wrong but being in a place that can cover and assist with any need is imperative. Having this peace of mind is something money can’t buy!

Find somewhere close to your home:

When taking account on where you would like to deliver, take all factors into consideration. Find a hospital that is easy for you to get to! You never want to be stuck on the side of the freeway trying to get to the hospital.

Find a hospital that supports you through your postpartum journey:

Another reason why I loved The Woman’s Hospital of Texas was all of the services they offered after I delivered. Not only were they concerned with me and my baby while we were in their care they wanted to support us after we went home! They provided lactation classes, parent classes and more! Having these resources at your fingers tips is something every new mother needs.

I have had many medical issues through the years, all of which tie back to my pregnancies. These were some of the hardest moments in my life. But because I was at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, I can look back on these times and know that I was blessed to be in their care.

Don’t forget to pin this post so you can save it for later!

Disney has been threaded throughout my entire life. I pulled a few of my most favorite memories over the years. From partying in the streets during the most epic dance party and meeting our most favorite princesses to me being a kid at Disney myself. Oh, I also had to add a picture of Cinderella’s Castle. She really is the most beautiful cast member of them all!
